Your roof could be damaged for several reasons, including age, an unexpected storm, typical wear-and-tear, dry rot, construction defect, mold, or moss growing on the roof. The good news is that most of these reasons do not require you to get a complete roof replacement—just a targeted repair, saving you time and money. Our roofing crews integrate professional repairs with existing materials, so you won’t be able to spot a difference once we are done.

GAF Certified Roof Repair Specialist

As your roof ages, it becomes more likely that a roof leak or other damage like dry rot and harmful mold will occur. This is especially true in The Pacific Northwest where rain is no stranger. Fortunately, the life of your roof can be extended, and often without the need for a full roof replacement. Many times, a good roof repair by a qualified roofing contractor is all that’s necessary to keep your roof effectively protecting your home for several additional years, potentially saving you thousands of dollars in expense.

Portland Roof Repair Contractor

Many Roofing Contractors Won’t Do Repairs. We Do.

Many Portland roofing companies have little interest in the smaller roof repair jobs, but at SFW Construction, we have made it our specialty. As an independent Portland roofing contractor with no corporate contracts needing fulfilling (and therefore no need to upsell particular roofing products needed for complete roof installations), we have no incentive to push for full roof replacements in situations when roof repairs make more sense. We will always recommend what’s best for you! Sometimes an inspection will reveal that a full roof replacement is warranted. Whether a roof repair, gutters, and downspouts repair, or full roof replacement, SFW Construction is the roofing company homeowners and commercial building owners trust in the greater Portland metro area.

There are several common roof issues due mainly to construction defects that call for a professional roofer in Portland including:

  • Loose, Bent, or Cracked Shingles
  • Nails Popping Up
  • Leaking around Shingles, Flashing, Chimneys, Skylights, or Vents
  • Damaged or Improperly-Installed Flashing
  • Poorly-Finished Connections and Poor Caulking
Fascia Repair

Fascia Repairs

Fascia is the trim that covers the boards running horizontally across the rafter tails, creating the edge of overhanging eaves. Correctly installed with drip edges, fascia prevents moisture from entering your roof’s substructure and helps support your gutters and downspouts. Fascia damage occurs because of improper installation, lack of maintenance, and weather. Birds, squirrels, certain rodents, and other nesting pests can also cause damage.

Soffit Repair

Soffit Repairs

A soffit is a board between your home’s siding and your roofline. It’s located under the horizontal fascia board, which holds the gutters. Soffits protect the area underneath your roof’s overhang from weather and water that could cause the beams to become vulnerable to mold and dry rot. Overflowing gutters make soffits easy targets for water damage. If the roof drip edge is missing or damaged, water can rot the fascia board before eventually progressing to the soffit.

Gutters and Downspouts

Gutters & Downspouts

Gutter and downspout maintenance is an essential, sometimes-overlooked part of your roofing system. In the Pacific Northwest, because of the weather it’s vital to have functioning gutters and downspouts attached to your home to ensure that you don’t flood your yard, damage your foundation, siding, or roof. We can aid you in the process of choosing the correct gutters and downspouts that perform well with your roof system, fascia, soffits, trim, and siding.

We Provide Professional Flat Roof Repairs

A leaking or damaged flat roof could be due to a variety of different reasons, including the age, an unexpected storm, regular wear-and-tear, construction defects, dry rot, etc. Dry rot occurs when water gets past the protective exterior products of your roof and gets trapped, spreading throughout the wood frame. As a result, you can end up with water damage, mold, mildew, and eventually, if left untreated, dry rot. If you suspect your flat roof has dry rot or needs a repair, make sure to hire a flat roof repair contractor who can do the job right the first time.

Leak Detection Specialists

SFW Construction specializes in flat roof repairs. We are experts at locating problems and making the correct repairs needed to prolong the life of your roof. If your flat roof is leaking consider getting a targeted repair instead of a full flat roof replacement. A repair consists of fixing the surrounding area, stopping the leak, and prolonging the life of your flat roof. SFW Construction is the top-rated flat roof repair contractor you’ve been looking for.

Flat Roof Options

If a flat roof replacement is in the cards for you, there are a few different choices, each with their advantages and disadvantages:

  • Modified Bitumen: Cut in 3-foot strips and made from an asphalt composite, this is frequently found on residential flat roofs.
  • EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer): This rubber roofing comes in large sheets and works well on large buildings.
  • PVC: A white, single-ply thermoplastic material that is extremely durable and reflects heat nicely. Often used on large commercial buildings.
  • TPO: A newer type of single-ply thermoplastic membrane, this one has a fabric feel to it, good durability, and is relatively inexpensive.
